A somber Veterans Day remembrance regarding two recently deceased friends and technical professionals, both retired United States Navy Master Chief Petty Officers (aka E-9, the highest naval enlisted rank). Respectfully, a salute to Virginia residents, Submariners & United States Submarine Veterans Inc. members (Hampton Roads Base), and U.S. Navy Electronics Technician Master Chief Petty Officers Bud Warren and Rich Crockford...

Statement On The Significant United States Military Holiday Differences:
Memorial Day is a holiday honoring men and women who have died while serving on active-duty in the U.S.A. military; whereas, Veterans Day honors all American veterans, living or deceased, who have honorably served in the U.S.A. military. A military service member on active duty (such as a first-term enlistment with no prior service), is an active-duty service member and not a veteran. The official day honoring U.S.A. military personnel on active-duty is Armed Forces Day, observed each year on the third Saturday in May. THANK YOU FOR YOUR MILITARY SERVICE! Military personnel with honorable prior active-duty service and serving again on active-duty (by post-discharge reenlistment or recall) are both veterans and active-duty service members.
